What is Nature Wave?
An experienced, passionate team of global educators, conservationists and environmental ambassadors with a mission to create a global ‘wave’ of nature connection, together.
Our story

Nature Wave began in 2024, with a simple mission; to get more people connecting with nature in an increasingly disconnected world. In one of his lessons, school teacher Alan Smith showed shells to his students. Each one knew what they were, but not one knew they were made by animals. In every class that day, he saw the same thing. All of these children could recognise logos of big brands, but not nature on their doorstep.
That experience inspired Alan to establish Nature Wave CIC, bringing together a team from a range of conservation, education, and directorial backgrounds to get kids and their families connected with the natural world. Since then, our team has been running events across the world, driving forward our mission to reunite people with wildlife and nature.
Alan’s favourite quote from Sir David Attenborough sums up exactly why we do what we do: “No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced”. Together, Nature Wave is striving to create a wave of nature connection across the world, full of people who care about our planet, and our future.
Our mission
Connecting people with nature is the foundation of a sustainable future.
If we want young people to make sustainable choices, to reduce, reuse and recycle, we first need to help them love nature. That’s their why.
When they notice, enjoy, learn about and play in the natural world, they’re far more likely to protect it and to live sustainably.
Add to that the growing research showing how time in green and blue spaces boosts our wellbeing, and it’s a double win. Connecting with nature is good for us and for the future of nature itself. It’s the foundation of a more sustainable, abundant world for all life on Earth.
